Performance by musicAeterna Dance “Okho” in Perm: Immersion in the world of physical drama

Already on June 23 at 18:00 a unique event will take place on the stage of the Perm Academic Theater — musicAeterna Dance performance “Okho”. This is not just a performance, it is a true immersion in the world of physical drama, where music and movement merge into a single whole.

Physical drama — it is a genre that focuses on physical movement and music replacing text. In this performance, under the direction of the talented choreographer Vladimir Varnava, viewers will be able to enjoy the musical works of Iannis Xenakis, brought to life on stage by the dance group musicAeterna Dance and six percussionists from the Moscow Percussion Ensemble.

This performance — not just a performance, it is a study of the relationship between Chaos and Cosmos, the unity of music, rhythm and body. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in cosmogonic reflections and see how these seemingly opposite concepts are inextricably linked.

Particular attention should be paid to the musical component of the performance. Yanis Xenakis — an outstanding composer and architect, creator of stochastic music associated with higher mathematics. His compositions, despite their complexity, are performed all over the world and are classics of modern avant-garde music.

Created in 2022, this group unites dancers and musicians, continuing the ancient Greek traditions of the “musical arts”. Their views — this is a unique symbiosis of classics and innovative ideas, plastic theater and everyday observations, circus elements and yoga, absurdist motifs.

Vladimir Varnava — one of the most interesting modern Russian choreographers. His work is varied and includes work with both leading dancers and young theater companies.
