Description
VDNKh is a unique space that brings together museum and exhibition projects, international business events, and a variety of festivals and holidays. VDNKh is one of the 50 largest exhibition centers on the planet. Every year, this place is visited by about 30 million people. In 2019, on August 1, the exhibition celebrated its 80th anniversary.
Since 2014, VDNKh has been combined with Ostankino Park and the Main Botanical Garden, and their total territory is almost 700 hectares. Of these, 240.2 hectares are occupied by the VDNKh territory itself, 75.6 hectares are allocated for Ostankino Park, and 361 hectares are the area of the Main Botanical Garden. The Worker and Kolkhoz Woman Museum and Exhibition Center and the area in front of the Main Entrance Arch occupy 9.5 hectares. There are many architectural masterpieces on the territory of VDNKh, 49 of which are recognized as cultural heritage sites.
These buildings, created during the Soviet era, are evidence of various architectural styles of that time. Among the most notable objects are the monument "Worker and Kolkhoz Woman" created by Vera Mukhina and Boris Iofan, the fountains "Friendship of the Peoples of the USSR" and "Stone Flower", as well as the pavilions "Agriculture" (former pavilion of the Ukrainian SSR), "Culture" (formerly the Uzbek SSR) and "Space".
