Truth is good, but happiness is better in Moscow, Maly Theater

On the stage of the Moscow Academic Maly Theater there is a performance based on  the work of the same name by A. N. Ostrovsky “Truth” good, but happiness is better.”

In a rich merchant's house, everything is controlled by the imperious old woman Mavra Tarasovna.  Her son does not know how to conduct business, he is deceived by his own clerk and is not selling his own goods. The daughter of a merchant and the granddaughter of Maura, Polyxena – "eternal bride". Her grandmother is looking for suitors for her, but she can’t get her married. The girl is in love with Platon Zybin, their accountant, a simple and honest young man.

 He did not want to support the clerk in deception and he made him a laughing stock, an object of teasing. The young man would like to leave this house forever, but he cannot because of a debt of 200 rubles. 

Polyxena will finally be found by a groom, passions in the house are heating up to the limit, but her nanny Felitsata (her name means happiness) comes to the aid of the young girl. She brings to the house an old acquaintance of the powerful Mavra Tarasovna, who owes something to her acquaintance. After their conversation, she gives the go-ahead for the marriage of Polyxena and Plato, whom she has now appointed as chief clerk.
