Meek in Moscow, Maly Theater

Performance “Meek” based on the novel by F.M. Dostoevsky will be presented on the stage of the Moscow Academic Maly Theater.

The performance “Meek” is one of many others that were dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great modern writer F.M. Dostoevsky. However, the production was created for the first time as a collaboration with the Winter Arts Festival of Yuri Bashmet and the Maly Academic Theater.

The main role is played by People's Artist of Russia Sergei Garmash, musical accompaniment by People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet and the chamber ensemble "Moscow Soloists", also students of VTU named after. M.S. Shchepkina.

The story “The Meek” is one of the writer’s last works, written in one breath, literally in three weeks, and leaves a very strong impression. As they would say now: a bestseller in the style of a psychological thriller. The story is a cry from the soul, the quintessence of tragic emotions, similar to the ringing break of a string. A story about two, in their own way, unhappy people, a short and poignant story of a broken life. The work is chamber, it is a dialogue with oneself, a kind of reflection without a way out. Both heroes are ambiguous. A meek but proud girl, broken by fate, attracting a despotic adult man who seems to be a villain, but... Dostoevsky is always multi-layered. You can condemn the main character, but this is life! And everyone deserves their destiny.
