On the stage of the Mossovet Theater there will be a performance of director Nina Chusova “Richard III” based on the play of the same name by the famous English playwright William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's play about Richard III is one of the most cruel, bloody and dramatic. He describes in all its glory the acts that are committed by the powers that be in the struggle for the throne and crown. Director Nina Chusova decided to deviate somewhat from Shakespeare's line and introduce notes of musical, tragic farce and even comedy into the narrative.

As conceived by director Nina Chusova, the narrative is built not only on the cruel actions of King Richard III, the main character of the play, but on the internal struggle that takes place within him. On the one hand, he is a cruel and calculating killer, going to power over corpses and stepping over all his competitors. On the other hand, he is an extraordinary person, an excellent speaker who knows how to manipulate the opinions of others and achieve what he needs. He is a talented strategist and many of his opponents sometimes don’t even understand how he managed to get around them.

These moments are played out in the production as comedic, tragicomic, or even shown in the format of a musical, from which the classic tragedy only benefited, becoming more dynamic, more interesting, and livelier.

The thirst for power in the king’s soul desperately fights with his conscience and often drowns out the latter’s voice, but still King Richard succumbs to it. Acting contrary to his desperate desire to rule over everyone, he commits an act that inevitably leads to his death. The king knows what he is doing and how it will end, and yet he takes the fatal step.
