About event
On the stage of the Mossovet Theater the play “Uncle Vanya” based on the work of the same name by A.P. Chekhov. Directed by Andrei Konchalovsky.
In 1970, A. Konchalovsky shot the feature film “Uncle Vanya,” which was recognized by critics as the best adaptation of Chekhov’s work.
Now the director has transferred the action of the work and its characters to the theater stage. The cast of the production is impressive: A. Domogarov, P. Derevyanko, A. Filippenko, Y. Vysotskaya, O. Anokhina, as well as many other famous names.
According to Konchalovsky's plan, the performance is staged in classical scenery, but not in a modern interpretation. This makes the theme of self-realization, finding oneself, and one’s place in the world even more relevant and relatable to the viewer. The performance turned out to be even more profound, psychological, precise, touching everyone's heartstrings. According to the director’s idea, Chekhov’s world collides with the world of today, from which the work acquires its tragicomic quality and reveals its depth.
