Description
The Unipol Forum is one of Italy's most recognizable indoor arenas, located in Assago, just a few kilometers from Milan. This modern, multifunctional complex can accommodate nearly 13,000 spectators and serves as a key venue for major sporting events, international shows, and concerts. It also hosts the home games of AX Armani Exchange Milan, a basketball club that competes in the Italian Championship and Euroleague.
The arena was built in 1990 to designs by Giuseppe Cabassi and his son Luca. Throughout its history, it has changed its name several times as part of partnership agreements, until Unipol became the title sponsor in 2024. The total area of the complex is approximately 40,000 square meters, and the space is organized on four levels beneath the main sectors. The upper tier features panoramic SkyBoxes—the ideal solution for guests seeking a private and comfortable atmosphere.
The Unipol Forum boasts high architectural and technical standards: the arena has been awarded the European Prize for Sports Venue Architecture and is a member of the European Arenas Association. Over the years, the stadium has undergone several renovations—its capacity has been expanded, internal landmarks have been improved, and the interior and surface have been modernized. These improvements allow the arena to meet stringent international standards.
It has hosted significant world-class competitions, including the 2018 World Figure Skating Championships, Ice Hockey and Volleyball World Championships, the 2022 FIBA EuroBasket tournament, the annual La Grande Sfida tennis exhibition tournament, as well as kendo and boxing tournaments. In 2026, the Unipol Forum will become a major Olympic venue, hosting figure skating and short track speed skating competitions as part of the Winter Olympic Games.
