The Ivanovo Musical Theater is one of the venerable theaters with a long history and extensive experience. Founded in 1934, it is one of the first musical comedy theaters. Over 85 years of his tireless work, he has gained many fans and boasts an impressive repertoire for every taste. He is always eagerly awaited and loved in many cities of Russia, and the theater in response pleases its audience with classical operettas, ballet productions, musical comedies, and vaudevilles. And in the late 1920s, it was a small group of amateur artists. It consisted mainly of operetta artists. A small troupe of amateur theater toured neighboring towns and villages with a small but very cheerful repertoire. The audience liked her very much and quickly gained popularity. And in 1934, on December 22, at the request of the workers, the Regional Executive Committee decided to create a stationary musical theater. The Ivanovo theater group was allocated its own building on Red Army Street, and an artistic director was appointed, who became V. Lensky. In March of the following year, the theater opened its first theatrical season and invited everyone to the first official productions of Harry Domella, The Bird Seller, and The Blue Mazurka. The theater did not stop its work even during the difficult war years, it only changed its repertoire to a more relevant "Moskvichka", "The wide sea stretches", with which he performed on the front line and in hospitals.

In the first 10 years of its activity, the theater staged more than fifty performances. And in the post-war years, young talented actors flocked to the theater troupe. In the 50s and 60s, People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Fedorovich Kelin, Honored Artists of Russia Stanislav Stepanochich Artyushkevich, Vladimir Georgievich Kanabikh, Honored Artist of Russia Valentina Grigoryevna Birillo now come to the Theater. The audience is looking forward to new productions. And by the early 70s, the theater reached the peak of its creative activity.

On December 25, 1986, the Ivanovo Musical Comedy Theater received a new name - the Ivanovo Regional Musical Theater. And in 1987, he moved to the building of the Palace of Arts on Pushkin Square. The talents of the artists are revealed in all their glory on the stage of the palace, new productions are staged. The theater continues to stage musical comedy and classical operetta, which receive the highest reviews not only in Russia, but also abroad.
