His nicknames include Ataman and Rafa. He has a 12-3 record in MMA and a 39-8 record in kickboxing. He signed with the UFC in the spring of 2019, becoming the first fighter from Azerbaijan to do so.
His opponent in Baku, Ignacio Bahamondes, is a Chilean mixed martial artist in the UFC lightweight division. He has a 10-4 record, including 8 knockouts. Before joining the UFC, Ignacio competed for Fight Company Mundial, Liverpool's Yungay, Karate Combat Chile, and Rooster FC in Chile. One of his most memorable fights before joining the UFC was his meeting with Joaquin Lopez at the Yungay Martial Arts Club in Liverpool, where he won by unanimous decision.
